Playing A Little Pepper

We are now less than 24 hours from the trade deadline. What are the odds the Rays make a trade?

Normally we would think there is a very good chance that the Rays make at least some trade, with the likely move being a small one to shore up the bench or the bullpen. But where on the roster can the Rays make an improvement with a minor deal? Brooks Conrad will likely be gone when Evan Longoria returns. The Rays like Ryan Roberts, Elliot Johnson and Jeff Keppinger. Maybe catcher. But the Rays are not going to get a catcher good enough to justify the potential impact on the pitching staff, who are now used to the Joses. Everything else is locked in, and it doesn’t look like the Rays are going to trade James Shields or Wade Davis…14% (FOR DAVID PRICE)

  1. Beazy says:

"Will The Rays Make A Trade?", yah, there trade Durham Conrad for Longo...

  2. KT says:

On my way to the game! Hoping Price can continue his dominance and the Rays can overcome their normal tendencies to take a dump on their bats against unfamiliar pitchers.

    Go Rays!!!

    • KT says:

Still here, Howell escaped the jam. Top of twelfth coming up, let's go Rays, let's get the W!!!!

  3. Drew says:

    Torrealba just got put DFA'd...

  4. Ken says:

The Rays can't trade Shields today. He is our starter tonight. There is no way we pitch Cobb today on only 4 days rest, or try to use our bullpen today and piecemeal the game since everyone pitched last night. We can't get one of our 3 SP's from AAA to fly out in time for tonight's game and none of them are ready to pitch 5 innings.

    • Cork Gaines says:

Well, I dont think a trade is going to be made, but the Rays aren't a team that is going to make a huge decision like that based on whether or not they have a starting pitcher tonight. And who knows, maybe the Rays will get a pitcher in a trade. Or they can just call up somebody from AA for one start.

It does make things difficult, but it can still happen.
