When Matt Joyce passed on all the junk balls from the bizarre rookie speed mixer, A.J. Griffin, and drilled a fastball for a homer to give the Rays a 3-2 lead in the seventh, Joe was sure last night/this morning’s big game in Oakland was locked up.
What the hell else is there to say after 15 innings on the West Coast other than pass the coffee? It was one of those painful and seemingly critical handful of games every season that gets away. The A’s struck out 21 times!
Damn! The Rays went scoreless for nine innings after the sixth inning. At least it was to a top-flight pitching staff, but you just can’t win that way, no matter how damn good your pitching is.
Joe’s struggling to stay positive and believe the Rays didn’t lose any momentum after this one.
