Playing A Little Pepper

No updates yet on Evan Longoria’s hamstring, but is there any chance we will see him back with the Rays soon?

Even if this was just precautionary and the Longoria did not re-injure his hamstring, I would still expect the Rays to “reset the clock.” That is, give him a few days off and then test it with some running drills. If he passes that, then he will restart his rehab assignment. So, even the best-case scenario probably means no Longoria until after the All-Star break…NO

The Longoria situation reveals the lack of true depth in this organization regarding position players. Frankly, it is very concerning for the long term
to not have any quality position players in the lower levels close enough to be plugged in in this type of situation...and the organization just doesn't have the resources to buy an alternative.
