Tuesday’s 11-2 loss to the Mets was sort of the epitome of bad baseball, with the Rays kicking off the mess with some horrendous first-inning defense that didn’t show up in the box score.
Nothing should make anyone yearn for Reid Brignac, but it would be nice if Elliot Johnson could look close to respectable out there.
Then there was the Mets dinking and dunking their way into the seventh innning with a 3-2 lead behind a bunch of opposite field poked hits. Alex Cobb had a much better night than the box score showed before giving way to the heinous J.P. Howell Experience, something no fan should have to endure. Frankly, Joe was a bit surprised Cobb got as much seventh-innn rope as he did given how the bullpen was well rested.
Regardless, not much matters when you only plate two runs. Joe’s just glad not many Rays fans paid to watch the game. It was one that could scar a non-hardcore for years.
