Joe is back with his post-game thoughts…

Thank God Desmond Jennings is back. Well, at least for one game.

With the Rays in dire need of a guy to put the team on his shoulders until (if?) Dirtbag returns, thanks goodness it was Jennings, who just about single-handedly carried the Rays to a 4-2 win over the Tigers.

Yes, two solo blasts to medium-range left field was nice, and in fact, the difference in the game. But how about him going Superman, diving headfirst like Joe at a free beer fest into the those wooden chairs along the left field line.

Joe didn’t know whether to cringe in agony or scream for joy!

It helped that David Price pitched like a stud tonight, holding the dangerous Tigers to five hits while fanning seven. Nice job there, man.

If the Rays are to get back into the division race without Dirtbag, it will need more spectacular games like Jennings turned in tonight.

Jennings was great and the entire defense looked sharp. Need more games like that.

Yes, sure was nice to finally see them in the W column. Nice to see the Yankees lose too!

Defense looked great on the field and there was definitely a great attitude about it. You could actually see them perform each part of the play in most of the double plays to calm themselves down and just make the play. It was structured but not forced. It looked good and felt good, now it just needs to stick.
