Sun Sports cameras caught this scene in the bullpen last night as Burke Badenhop was told to start warming up. What ensued made us giggle just a little…

Switched over about the fourth inning to the Marlins broadcast on Fox Sports for a change of pace.

they really spoke highly and fondly about Badenhop and called him Hoppy. When he came up to bat, which surprised me that he was allowed to stay for that, they said he was a good hitter for a pitcher. I guess it was like Matsui in New York looking for some kharma.

The Fox/Marlin guys also gushed over Maddon calling him the Bill Walsh of baseball. Maybe minus the 3 championships. A bit hyperbolic but kinda cool.

IMO we are lucky to have Dewayne. Play by Play guy needs to be kind a historian to put things in context.

good point. Not sure if you stayed with them late, but at the end of the 7th, the Marlins TV crew had already completely given up on the game. Granted it was 5-1 and they had just 6 outs left, but it was not an impossible lead. Anyway, they said something like (I'm paraphrasing) "It's not happening tonight. Yeah, feels like it is 10-1." Granted, they are not a very good offensive team, but still surprising to hear the hometown crew just give up that early.

I turned to their feed for a while at the end and noticed that too! Going into the bottom of the 9th they were already anticipating a post game show that would discuss the loss. Certainly they don't need to pretend as though the game were really close, but can't they at least leave open the possibility that the Marlins could get something going in their inning? Honestly, they seemed much more excited about the Rays than about the Marlins.
