[UPDATE] Official word is “discomfort in hamstring,” and his rehab assignment has been “suspended indefinitely.” Of course, that means little until he is fully diagnosed. But it does confirm what we all thought, that he was pulled because of his hamstring. In the meantime, we won’t any additional info until the team doctors have had a chance to evaluate Longoria. And that isn’t going to happen in Durham.

[Earlier] Evan Longoria was in the lineup tonight as the DH for the Durham Bulls. But after grounding out in his first at bat, he was removed from the game for a pinch hitter. No reason has been given yet.

Of course, the concern here is that Longo has aggravated his hamstring injury. At this point, the best possible scenario is that Longo just didn’t feel right and the team pulled him as a precaution. The Rays always err on the side of caution with injuries. But until we hear an official explanation there is a real concern here that Longo has suffered a setback and will not rejoin the team in the next week as was expected.

You gotta be bleepin me. If he re injured that hamstring, we wont see him back for a very long time. We are much more cautious than the Dodgers and Kemp is out for a month or more.

I can’t breathe here, STILL no update on Evan.

He can have anything from the flu to re injuring his hamstring and no one knows. How about starting if he’s in the dugout or clubhouse right now?

    Come on broadcasters.

Broadcaster Patrick Kinas doing what he can to keep folks updated, but he obviously is not first in line for info. You can listen via the Bulls website. He is saying the same thing — rehab suspended indefinitely. But he may be getting his info from Smith. Rays front office controlling flow of info.

I want to believe you so bad, Evan, but you thought you were ready 2 weeks ago.

To add insult to injury (pun intended) the Yankees just won their 10th in a row.

      That’s a clown comment, bro

No but seriously, we can’t make any jokes regarding an Evan injury.

Then again if we don’t laugh, we might just cry.

No worries, Rich Thompson is on his way back to the big club.

The comparisons to Longo’s college teammate Troy Tulowitzki’s career are crazy. Either those guys lift they same way, or train with the same guys, or take the same supplements, but both have Hall of Fame Careers threatened by continued serious muscle impairments. Obliques. Quads. Hamstrings. Mix in some hot yoga in the off-season fellas.

When both of those guys hurt themselves in rehab assignments within a week of each other, it makes you wonder what is going on. Terrible.
