Jeremy Hellickson has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with what is being called “shoulder fatigue” (via Marc Topkin). There is no structural damage, and he is only expected to miss two starts.

Chris Archer, who was part of the trade that sent Matt Garza to the Chicago Cubs, has been called up and will make his big league debut on Wednesday.

Archer, who is one of the Rays’ top prospects, has a 4.81 ERA in 14 starts this season with triple-A Durham. He has 90 strikeouts in just 76.2 innings, but has struggled with his control at times, walking 45 batters.

  1. Dave L says:

As I said yesterday, those who are worried about Niemann having no spots open to come back to need not worry.

We have series against Nats Phillies and Royals, three teams we will never face in the playoffs.

Maddon and Friedman just want Archer to get some action at the big league level against teams who aren't rivals.

I say he makes 2 starts only

    Put some "WD-40" on it???

    • Alex says:

      1. He's not stretched out. Just like the Alex Cobb situation.
      2. They like him in his current role
