Well, we’ve heard from Carlos Pena, Joel Peralta, and Joe Maddon. So let’s hear from Davey Johnson.
Of course, the big question everybody wants answered is: who ratted out Joel Peralta for something that a lot of pitches are doing? Johnson dances like Justin Timberlake around the question using words like “rumor” and statements like “I don’t think it’s a secret.”
It should be noted that Johnson refers to the “black caps.” In recent years, the underbill of the official caps switched from grey to black.

Funny thing is, he got Peralta removed before he through a pitch, and McGee came out and mowed them down like nothing happened. How’d that gamesmanship work out for you, Davey ? Peralta might have struggled. You should have waited to see how he was throwing, then called him out.
