The Rays now have one less player on the disabled list as Brandon Allen was activated. But he won’t be joining the Rays anytime soon. That’s because he was designated for assignment and placed on waivers.

The Rays kept Allen on his rehab assignment as long as they could. But without any new injuries cropping up recently, there was no room on the roster and a move had to be made. If Allen clears waivers, he can then choose to accept an assignment to the minors.

I never did expect to see Allen again as soon as we signed Matsui. I hope he clears waivers but I doubt it. So June has in fact been the month of heeling. We have already went from 10 on the DL list to 7.

By the end of the month, I would expect and hope the list is down to 4 with only Niemann, Fuld, Guyer and Chirinos still on the DL. Guyer and Chirinos aren’t coming off the DL at any point if I had to guess.

Why keep Moonlight Graham on the roster and not Allen? I kind of liked Allen as the new Pumpkin.
