Playing A Little Pepper

The Rays have played one-fifth of their schedule. Who is the MVP so far?

You could make a case that Fernando Rodney has been the most important player so far. He has solidified a bullpen that was in a bit of chaos when Kyle Farnsworth went down. Also consider that maybe the biggest reason the Rays are tied for first is because they are 7-2 in one-run games. But we are going with Matt Joyce. He has 7 home runs, a .375 OBP, and a huge .413 wOBA early on. And while he is not killing lefties, he is hitting well enough (.300 OBP) to at least justify having him in there most days…MATT JOYCE

Lineup…

  1. Ben Zobrist, RF
  2. Carlos Pena, 1B
  3. BJ Upton, CF
  4. Luke Scott, DH
  5. Jeff Keppinger, 3B
  6. Matt Joyce, LF
  7. Sean Rodriguez, SS
  8. Jose Molina, C
  9. Elliot Johnson, 2B
  10. Jeremy Hellickson, SP

Ben Zobrist is the “Jeter” of the Rays…..hes a .300/30 hr/100rbi man…looking at pitches waiting for walks….don’t need to tell you who’s idea that is….

    • Rob says:

Huh? He’s never even completed one season with stats that high, much less averaged them.

      • don says:

You Know i hate this stats…BS
        But let me help you: 2009: .297 ba, 27hr. 91 rbi…
Now let him swing the bat…Maddon is going to make him ML league walk leader.. Who gives a Damn….killing the offense

        • Rob says:

Like I said, he has never finished with .300, 30HR and 100 RBI in a season. As a matter of fact he has never finished with even one of those accomplishments in a season. If you think 91 is the same as a 100, then I will offer you $91 for $100 in return all day long.

          • Rob says:

That is, you get $91 for every $100 you give me, to be clear.

          • don says:

You missed the point again…. would you rather have a player wih 91 rbi’s or ML leader in walks?…If your not sure ask Maddon

  2. Rob says:

I didn’t miss the point. I understand where you are coming from and somewhat agree, but inaccuracy of your supporting data reduces your credibility and objectivity.
