Joe is back with his post-game thoughts…

Now Joe is not going to be some slug of a fan — you know, like a Chowd — who would crucify Crooked Cap Fernando Rodney for blowing what would have and should have been a wonderful Rays win over the jerks from Boston.

The Rays played a tight game. David Price pitched like the stud stopper he should be. The Rays had strong defense. Bossman gunning down Dustin Pedroia at the plate (with a damned good block of the plate by Jose Molina) in the sixth set the table for the Rays to take the lead in the seventh.

No, Joe’s not down on Rodney, not even close. Even the best have a bad day. Rodney’s not perfect; we painfully learned that tonight.

The Rays wouldn’t be having such a good season if not for Rodney’s pitching. Go get’em next time Crooked Cap!

    Baseball will humble you.

On a lighter note, ESPN has something called a Cy Young Predictor in which Rodney has been the leader for some time now.

    Guess what?

After last night he still leads Verlander and Price is #5. I still love and value Rodney as a reliever but closer is amongst the most over rated position in american pro sports.

Rodney had nothing to do with the Rays loss last night...
the Rays inability to score at least one insurance run earlier, esp. in the 9th...they did nothing on offense...
going into the 9th with a 0ne run lead is asking for it...
Rodney does HIS job.. too bad the offense can't do theirs...
