The Rays won their second game in a row. But it this one came with a price as Jeff Niemann broke a bone in his leg and is probably out for at least a couple of months. But that wasn’t the only interesting moment. Here are the highlights that you won’t see on SportsCenter…

With Joyce's bad ankle, the head first slide was probably okay. Last thing Rays need is him stretching out and landing awkwardly on the bad ankle and landing on the DL with the rest of the team.

So, you're saying his head is expendable?

That is what helmets are for. Just need to keep Joyce upright for the next 6 weeks or so. He is the Rays best hitter who is currently able to actually play. (Zobrist a close second).

My problem w/his slide & also Jeff Keppinger's 1 at home where he was tagged out a few days ago, is that each of them seem to have at least a limb (right arm/hand of Joyce, Kep's whole body) pass the bag/plate before they reached out to touch it. Joyce's situation may make sense b/c he needs to hang on to the bag until time is called, but not so in Kep's case. Surely he could have reached out w/a toe, knee, elbow or something before sliding completely past the plate & reaching back!! Did they not review sliding techniques in Spring Training?
