It is now official, the Rays have signed Jose Molina. The signing was first reported over a week ago. However, the Rays may have been waiting to make sure they could trade one of their other catchers. And with John Jaso being dealt last night, it opened the door for Molina.

Molina will make $1.5 million in 2012 with a team option for $1.5 million in 2013. The Rays can buy out the option for $300 thousand.

    I love it.

Since the Rays are now acting on the requests of Rays Index readers, can we ask for some help at SS for next season until the prospects arrive. A Furcal-type guy, perhaps?

Except they’ve clearly ignored the threads about Derek Shelton. Oh well, I’m not convinced that the hitting coach matters much anyway, and I’m pleased to have a strong defensive catcher.

Do you think they’ll take our requests on food options at the Trop? I’ve always thought a sushi bar would be nice.
