Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers was a unanimous choice for the 2011 AL Cy Young Award. The Rays’ James Shields finished third, behing Jered Weaver of the Angels.
Shields received five second-place votes and nine third-place votes. He was named on 25 of the 28 ballots, with three voters leaving him out of their top five.

Are you kidding me? What kind of homer votes for Dave Robertson on his Cy Young ballot? I’d really like to know what 3 buffoons left Shields off the ballot entirely. That’s just nuts.
I’d also like to know that. YES a middle relief guy for Cy Young. His credentials should be pulled and politely shoved up his ass.
