Over the weekend I explored the possibility and the hurdles involved with paying college athletes. One solution seems plausible, but it will cost the system at least $200 million every year.   1. I believe they should eliminate scholarships and pay them 49% of the gross. Let them negotiate their own contracts and pay their fair share of taxes. If a student wants to appear at a sports store and sign jerseys for $100 a pop, let them. Its a free market.
