The GBT – The Good, The Bad and The Telling sandwich, where The Bad is nice and lean and the The Telling is ripe.

THE GOOD: Dirtbag’s Bat. Evan Longoria’s 3-run home run in the 9th was icing. But it was his RBI single in the 8th that broke the 5-5 tie and opened the floodgates…Choppach. Hey, when he does manage to make contact, the ball will go far as evidenced by his big 2-run home run in the 2nd to start the scoring. But even that nice moment was fleeting as his passed ball in the 3rd was followed by a game-tying 2-run single.

THE BAD: Targeting Johnny. Damon was hit by a pitch twice yesterday. The second HBP caused a contusion. X-Rays were negative, but Damon is expected to miss a couple of gamesBig Dub. Here are Wade Davis’ inning-by-inning pitch totals: 22,7,22,9,31. To make this even more interesting, let’s look at his inning-by-inning fastball velocity: 91.3, 89.5, 91.1, 89.1, 90.9. So his heater was 89 in the strong innings, and 91 in the innings he struggled. As is always the case with David, consistency is lacking.

THE TELLING: Prior to the series, if we were offered James Shields and David Price and 14 runs, we would have taken it in a heartbeat. Instead, it was a series loss..

  1. Don says:

Shopp. is the same type of hitter as Pena was, a hr. once a week or (month for shopp.) then you can forget about him for a week or 10days
HE is not a better catcher than Jaso, but morons think so...
Nice to see longo do something in a 12 run blowout, NOW lets see in the next 4 Yankee games when the Rays are down 3 to2 what he does...

    • mary says:

He did get the go ahead rbi before that hit. Every time he does something good you have a negative comment. Afraid to say why you
      hate on him so much?

      • Drew says:

Not to mention his walk-off HR against the Reds on 6/28 and his game-tying HR against the Astros 2 days before that. Some people are just stupid

  2. Greg says:

The scoreboard fail on BJ Upton is great but your line about Coco Crisp got me an even better laugh. Nicely done.

  3. Cory says:

"Amazingly, this might be the first time BJ Upton has appeared at Fail Blog. Who was pitching, Coco Crisp?"

Except it wasn't his first failblog appearance:

  4. mary says:

Apparently you cant see that sometimes players have things bothering them that have nothing to do with booze and women according to you limited knowledge of the rays players personal life

    • mary says:

You do realize that his stats are better than alot of players even after missing 29 games. but you apparently think he's the cause of all the Rays problems. Your jealousy is so obvious

      • Don says:

Calm down mary, Longo has all the money and all the women he will ever need,
I suppose your in line somewhere....
We said Longo gets another chance against the Yankees, if his toe doesn't hurt too much!
