What was the likelihood of that guy dropping a complete game shutout on the Rays? Sheesh.
Justin Ruggiano’s double-play ball with the bases loaded to end the first inning was enough to drive any fan to the beer cooler, but Joe never would have believed that would be the day’s big excitement in Minnesota.
That sure seemed like a great time to lay down the safety squeeze with Jonny Damon on third and Casey Kotchman poised to come up with runners in scoring position. Why isn’t Joe Maddon in love with that play anymore?
At least the Rays didn’t spoil a good outing by David Price, who hit the showers after six innings and four earned runs.
Thanks to Adam Russell for the early fireworks show.
Time to right the ship Tuesday night.
