The GBT – The Good, The Bad and The Telling sandwich, where The Bad is nice and lean and the The Telling is ripe.

THE GOOD: Hellboy Cometh Again. Hellickson pitched brilliantly again, holding the M’s scoreless for 7 innings. He was charged with 1 run in the 8th, striking out 4, walking 1 and giving up just 3 hits. In his last 6 starts, he has allowed just 6 runs in 40.1 innings (1.34 ERA).

THE BAD: Joel Peralta. Peralta has been less than automatic recently. In his last 10 outings, he has given up at least 1 run in 5 of those appearances. Over that span, he has given up 6 runs in 12 innings on 6 hits and 6 walks with just 5 walks. And yesterday he made things interesting in the 8th inning when he gave up a 2-run home run to bring the Mariners within 1 run.

THE TELLING: Evan Longoria left the game in the 4th inning with tightness “in his side” (that’s where the oblique is located). However, Longoria says he feels well enough that he hopes to play today…Casey Kotchman was back in the lineup after missing 5 games…
