The GBT – The Good, The Bad and The Telling sandwich, where The Bad is nice and lean and the The Telling is ripe.

THE GOOD: The National Anthem. Mike McCready performed the national anthem prior to the game. That was the only thing worth watching all night (VIDEO).

THE BAD: Andy Sonnanstine. We don’t think it is an exaggeration when we say the Rays probably have 15 pitchers in the organization that are better than Andy Sonnanstine right now. And yet, just so Joe Maddon could increase the Rays chances in the Red Sox series, he took away any chance of winning last night’s game by giving the ball to Sonny again.

THE TELLING: The Rays and Mariners did the dreaded color-on-color last night…Casey Kotchman is hoping to be back in the lineup today…The M’s had scored 7 runs in a game just 5 times prior to this series. They have now down it twice in 2 days…John Jaso started against the lefty yesterday.

  • Another ex-Rays player arrested for domestic assault. This time it is Dewon Brazelton. [The Heater]
  • This made us giggle: Kelly Shoppach says he needs more playing time. And the always optimistic Joe Maddon on Shoppach: “his BPs have been great.” [TampaBay.com]
  • Jim Donten took some pics at yesterday’s extended spring game. There was a Drew Vettleson sighting. [Rays Prospects]

    Depth chart for SP's IMO

    1. Price
    2. Shields
    3. Hellickson
    4. Davis
    5. Neimann
    6. Cobb
    7. Torres
    8. Bootcheck
    9. Buente
    10. screw it, Jake McGee
    11. screw it again, Cesar Ramos
    12. Andy Sonnanstine.....yet he made his 5th start last night. The guy has given up more homers than he has gotten K's, I mean come on. If you wanna remove the 2 relievers, you are still talking about #10 on the list up to 5 starts.

Now Shop wants to play more? Can we please DFA them both, call up Jennings and at least give the Mets a call about Reyes?

    Fuld - Jennings
    Brignac - Reyes
Sonnanstine - Cobb until Neimann is ready, roster spot to Gomes

I guess we need another move, send Ruggiano down. Not that against including Brignac in the Reyes deal, hey front office, please act like you care about this season. At least give us Guyer until Jennings is deemed "ready"

      I forgot Shoppach - Lobaton

He's been much better this season and those ole Rays want Chirinos to catch more anyway.

And finally, a guy who can play defense at C in Lobaton.
