As much as it pains him to the core, Joe has to give it up to Josh Beckett for his 1-hit, complete game shutout of the good guys.

What are you going to do or say? The guy’s got a 1.86 ERA and had total command– plus some friendly umpiring. The Rays need that kind of ace gem from David Price tomorrow to take the series.

Hellboy bounced back so strong from his crappy outing in Baltimore. One pitch to Satan Youklis cost him a three-run bomb in the seventh. Game over.

Another great learning experience for Hellboy before a sub-20k crowd. At least he’s back on track and now it seems Jeff Niemann’s return is around the corner. That, a good bullpen finish and a cold beer is about all Joe can take to bed.

It might have been one bad pitch, but Hellickson was rocked by every batter in that inning (except by Gonzalez - who was IBB). Even the outs were hit hard. It was very obvious to me that he had lost it in the 7th.

On another note, we have the Saturday package, and I have to say this has been the most boring season to attend in a long time. I think I have been to 10 or 11 games, and they have only won once (maybe twice) and haven't scored more than 2-3 runs in any of the games. There is no buzz in the Trop from the fans and the team just looks flat.

Well, maybe Saturdays are the new Fridays (remember, last year they lost every Friday). And given all the Saturday concerts, that's the day you are most likely to get lots of people who are there for the music (I avoid Saturday games for just that reason).

I've been to a few games this year and they've been great. True, not too many full houses, but enthusiastic fans and great baseball. So it's luck of the draw.
