Over on the right side of the page, you will see a link to “Organizational Depth Chart” also known as the “Tampa Bay Rays Cork-Board.” We recently made a few changes which we think will make the page more useful.
Now, if you click on a player’s name you will be taken to that player’s page at Baseball-Reference. In the old version, you went to MiLB.com. Unfortunately, MiLB.com SUCKS. Also, if you hover your mouse over a player’s name, you will now see how that player was acquired. If they were drafted by the Rays, it will tell you the year and round.
If you are not familiar with the Cork-Board, here is an intro…
- Shaded players are on the 40-man roster.
- Lineups are designed to represent a typical lineup versus a right-handed pitcher in recent games.
- The starting pitchers are in order of how they appear in the rotation (usually).
- Players listed under “Extended Spring Training” will typically be assigned to one of the short-season teams (Hudson Valley, Princeton). Those teams begin play in June.
