Of the players picked up in the Matt Garza trade, Robinson Chirinos is the toast of Spring Training as he may be the closest to the big leagues and fills what may be a bigger need, catcher. So it is easy to forget that the gem of the trade was pitcher Chris Archer, the Cubs top prospect (now the Rays’ 4th best prospect).

Yesterday, Archer appeared on “Happy Hour with JP Peterson” on 1010AM.  You will want to listen to this conversation. If you are looking for a player to replace Fernando Perez on your “likability” and “rooting for” scales, Archer is going to give Dirk Hayhurst a solid run for his money. After all, Peter Gammons called seeing Archer during Spring Training, a “joy.”

    Where’s the mandatory Archer screengrab?

I’m having trouble with the mp3. It won’t play on the site, nor will it play downloaded to my desktop. Anyone else having this issue?

I would really like to hear it. I heard Perez interviewed by Steve Duemig and instantly became a fan. Perez is a real cerebral guy.

Archer’s Twitter feed is great – the dude seems very chill and even-keeled.
