The Rays today announced that they have signed Joe Inglett to a minor league deal. Inglett is a utility man that played outfield and second base for the Brewers in 2010. In 102 games, he hit .254 with a .331 OBP and 1 home run. He has a career .345 OBP in 313 games.

Interestingly, Inglett was used as a relief pitcher by the Brewers last year. Rays do need some help in the bullpen*. In one appearance, he pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning. Five of his six pitches were strikes.

*I’m partially joking

He was annoying when he used to come to bat against the Rays. Good sign.

The man reaks of roster filler. At this point, he needs to out play Felipe Lopez just to compete with Elliot Johnson and I think unless both Johnson and Lopez get hurt, he is Durham bound. Even then, a trade wouldn't shock me.
