The Rays have signed former Red Sox and Mets outfielder Chris Carter — all he does is catch touchdowns — to a minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training. Carter a left-handed bat, hit .263 with 4 home runs and a .317 OBP in 100 games with the Mets this past season.
