Here is an interview conducted by Neil Solondz in which Rocco talks about why he is coming back and the similarities between the 2008 and 2010 Rays (thanks Chris)…

Good interview. It’s always nice to hear Rocco’s opinion. I hope that he’s one of the players the Rays bring up for roster expansions. He’s hitting the ball really well right now.

  2. Gus says:

Does Rocco have to be up today to be eligible for the post-season?

    • Cork Gaines says:

Technically, yes. But there is a loophole. David Price was not on the roster in 2008 until mid-September. If the Rays have somebody on the 60day DL or move somebody to the 60day DL before the playoffs start, they can add anybody to the playoff roster*.

*Only pitchers can replace pitchers. Any fielder can replace any injured fielder.

      • Sarah says:

In other words Gabe Kapler may have another “sore hamstring” (or was it some other body part?) if they’d prefer to bring up Rocco.

When will they announce the first wave of call-ups?

  3. John S says:

Gus that is what I thought… This is funky because Hellickson I believe does not need to be because he was already up.. I am not sure about that rule

But another name that hasn’t touched the major league roster yet is Jake McGee. We HAVE to have another LEFTY in the BULLPEN! McGee is dominating people. He actually is our most dangerous lefty arm in the bullpen right now. You really need 2 lefty’s in the playoffs and the game now are leveraged.

  4. Chris Wise says:

If you’ve got a spare rocking chair down there, we (the Bulls) would be happy to send you Brian Shouse. On the other hand, just looked at the Bulls roster and he isn’t there any more …
