[Update] Below the jump you will now find a write-up from Kyra about the evening…

[11:00am] Once again the Rays held their annual fashion show to help raise money for the Children’s Dream Fund. In all, 15 Rays players and coaches participated, doing their turns on the catwalk with either their significant other or a young lady from the Children’s Dream Fund. So good news for you ladies (and some guys), Evan Longoria fell in the latter category.

And lucky for us, we had the benefit of somebody on hand to take pictures. All of the images below were taken by Kyra Hallett, and she did an amazing job. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Kyra and all the Rays for the wonderful work they did for a great charity.

Thursday night the Rays held their annual Rays on the Runway fashion show hosted by Ray’s wives at Tampa’s Nordstrom International Plaza. All proceeds benefited the Children’s Dream Fund. Players and their significant others walked the runway in today’s hottest fashions. Some of the athletes were paired with a child from the Children’s Dream Fund.

Before and after the runway show players mingled with fans, took pictures and signed some autographs. Rays in attendance were: Jason Bartlett and his wife Kelly, Reid Brignac who walked with Dream Child Gabriella Barrios, Lance Cormier and his wife Jamie, Wade Davis and his wife Katelyn, Matt Garza who walked with Dream Child Emma Harrison, John Jaso who walked with Auction winner Cali Kish, Evan Longoria who walked with Dream Child Katya Zelaya, Jeff Niemann who walked with Dream Child Hannah Marsh, Carlos Peña and his wife Pamela, Bobby Ramos who walked with Auction winner Blake Samon, Sean Rodriguez and his wife Giselle, Derek Shelton and his wife Allison, Kelly Shoppach and his wife Jennifer, James Shields and his wife Ryane, Dan Wheeler who walked with Dream Child Mia Johnson and Ben Zobrist and his wife Julianna.

Dioner Navarro was scheduled to attend but did not show since being sent down to AAA Durham that day after the Rays win. Matt Joyce has been brought up.

Some memorable moment on the runway was when John Jaso switched sunglasses with a headband from Dream Child Emma Harrison and wore it on the way back up the runway. Another was in the second half of the show when Reid Brignac came out in an outfit that resembled Pee Wee Herman and then on his way back broke out doing the Pee Wee Herman dance with Dream Child Gabriella Barrios. Other Ray’s that broke out their dance moves were James Shield who showed his pop and locking skills along with Bench Coach Bobby Ramos also did his signature “Motorcycle” move and danced with Auction winner Blake Samon.

All in all, the runway show was a hit with the fans, the Children’s Dream Fund and the Rays.

Brignac wins the award for guy most likely to be mistaken for an actual model. Sean Rodriguez looks pretty good, too. I guess this is a good rookie class from the point of view of eye candy.

Curious whether Soriano participated? Just would have liked to see if he wears his game face in every situation.

I don’t have the list in front of me (I think you can find it in the story at devilrays.com), but I don’t think Soriano was there.

And I’m secure enough to agree with you. There are some good lookin’ guys on this roster.

I do wonder, however, about the small, furry mammal that seems to have landed on Juliana Zobrist’s head.
