Marc Topkin is reporting that Dioner Navarro has been demoted to triple-A Durham and Matt Joyce has been promoted to take his place.

Earlier today, Carl Crawford left the game with “shoulder soreness.” At this point it is unclear if CC will need to go on the DL, but the Rays felt they needed an extra outfielder for the time being.

Did Joyce play any CF in Durham? Does he have any ability to give us some Upton relief in the line up. I know, BJ the lead off man homered for the first time since May 8th today, so prosperity is just around the corner, but just in case . . .

Nope. only LF, RF and DH. I’m sure Joe Ma would be fine letting Joyce play a little center in emergency, but doubt that is part of the plan.

He played CF before in 2009 against the Boston Red Sox while BJ Upton was rehabbing his shoulder. He can play all 3 positions in the OF and some DH. It is time for Joyce to showcase his talents that he is part of the Rays plans for the next couple of years.

Just put Rodriguez there, he would be the better option dont you think?

  3. Kevin says:

Has Joyce been throwing without restriction in Durham?

  4. MJ says:

W/ Joyce, Shop, and Rodriguez, is there any reason Kapler should play anymore?

  5. Connie says:

I forgot Kapler was on the team!
Anyone know what was on Price’s cap today? There was some white logo next to the TB logo on his hat when they showed the Longoria and Price bobbleheads and they panned over to Price standing next to Wade.
