Per Marc Topkin:

The Rays have designated DH Pat Burrell for assignment, and selected Hank Blalock from Triple-A Durham.

Burrell, who signed a two-year, $17 million deal before last season, had been a disappointment, with his struggles continuing this season (hitting .202). Blalock is expected to be here at the Trop around gametime.

He sucked. But for a blogger that feasts on crapisms, The Bat will be missed.
