Pat Burrell, who was released last week, and who did nothing but suck for his two seasons in a Rays uniform had one final message for the writers at the St. Pete Times

lose my f*cking #

As Joe would say over at JoeBucsFan, we had to substitute an asterisk for one of the letters to protect the innocent.

Stay classy Fat Burrell. Stay classy.

Hey, I'm no PtB fan, and my delicate ears are offended by foul language. Nonetheless, if I'd just gotten unceremoniously fired and a reporter called me minutes later for comment I'd probably say something quite similar. Give him a break.

I hear what you are saying but this is like the closer that suddenly won't talk to reporters after blowing a big save. These guys have a job to do also and it is a bit disingenuous to only be available when things are going well.

If I was a Rays sports writer...I would have lost his f_cking phone # a long time ago!

Did Pat really think they were going to continue to play him given the 100s of PAs of data showing he simply no longer had it?

The word posted in our the LA Times was that the Rays waited until Pat had completed his 10 years as a player and thus was fully vested for the pension before they released him.

The Rays appeared pretty classy to me.
