The Yankees announced yesterday that their fifth starter, Phil Hughes will be skipped the first time through the order and will not start against the Rays the second series of the season. Here is the updated pitching probables for the first week…

Tue April 6: James Shields v Kevin Millwood (Bal)
Wed April 7: Matt Garza v Jeremy Guthrie (Bal)
Thur April 8: Jeff Niemann v Brian Matusz (Bal)
Fri April 9: David Price v Javier Vazquez (NYY)
Sat April 10: Wade Davis v CC Sabathia (NYY)
Sun April 11: James Shields v AJ Burnett (NYY)

All of the sudden, that series versus the Yankees doesn’t look so winnable.

OK just curious is Joe Madden going to have the boys taking infield practice all year? seems the before a game didn’t work so well last year..??

  2. Gus says:

Yankees already pressing with CC! WD-40 pitches well in the Trop.

Given the weather up north, you never know what you are going to get in the first couple of weeks of April pitching rotation-wise. They have to get through Boston first. I’m hoping for 3 days of miserable weather and rain delays for them.

Well, I can tell you that Sunday is supposed to be beeeeee-autiful here in Boston, though it might cloud up by game time. The rest of the week has nothing more than showers as far as precipitation goes. Though with what we’ve had recently, showers could send us all floating off into the Atlantic.

      • Justin says:

More than one Rays fan in Boston? No way…

        • Charles says:

Way! Last time I was at Fenway (last May) there were quite a few of us in my section. Mostly in Carlos Pena jerseys, since he’s a local kid, but there were a few Longorias, Crawfords, etc. floating around, and people on both sides were into the rivalry. Not like in the old days when I’d wear my Greg Vaughn jersey to the stadium and people would either a) ignore it or b) think it was just a badly colored Mo Vaughn jersey.

Price needs to make a huge statement Friday and bring out his best performance ever against the Yanks. We need to stablish our game early at home. Got tickets?

  4. David says:

If you put any stock into the shellacking we put on CC Sabathia during his last regular season start in ’09 then maybe there’s a chance. Hope so, I’ll be at that game!
