Every team goes through “Picture Day” during spring training where all the players and coaches get all dolled up in their regular season uniforms and have their pictures taken by the professionals. Here is a link to Getty’s pics of the Rays.

Pat Burrell
Why does Pat Burrell have such a sly grin on his face and why is he touching his crotch with both hands? Maybe it is because the photographer told Pat to grab his bat. Maybe it is because it is the only bat of Pat’s that still works. Or maybe this is the secret behind the nickname, “Pat the Bat.” We vote for “all of the above.”
Gabe Kapler
Is there a reason Gabe Kapler doesn’t have his jersey tucked in? Maybe it is because he is lazy. But more likely it is because the photographer is right-handed.

I can only imagine that the official photos will just be from the chest up — otherwise the untucked shirts would surely be vetoed. Love the halo around Evan’s head.
that photos are “as is.” These photos can be purchased just as you see them at the above link (which is now fixed). Of course, anybody that uses these images can feel free to crop them as they see fit. But in a few instances, you can tell the pictures are meant to include the entire body. Longoria’s is an example. But also, Fernando Perez has a few where he is holding his bat below his waist.

A few observations from perusing through these pictures:
BJ Upton is higher than a giraffes ass.
Andy Sonnanstine is holding a bat in every picture.
Jeremy Hellickson looks no older than 13.
Dayle Thayer may be high too.
Yes, I agree about BJ….but what’s with Gabe Kapler? Did he forget his razor? He looks exactly like those mug shots they show on the web page of the St. Pete Times. I expect to see a caption under his photos about how he was arrested for DUI.
I also noticed that most of the team is wearing their sneakers….BJ is in sandals and socks.
