Tampa Bay Rays Powder Blue Alternate Unveiled
New Uniforms February 8th. 2010, 1:46pm[Update] The jersey has already been pulled from the website, which is silly. The cat is out of the bag and now all MLB and the Rays are doing is costing themselves money. After the new jersey was linked here, several other sites, including The St. Pete Times, linked to the MLB Shop. Most of the people that click through to the jersey are Rays fans and all are potential customers. There will be no reason to link back to the shop after today.
[1:46pm] We’ve been sitting on this for a while. But now that MLB.com has them on sale, we guess it is ok to tell you that the Rays will be introducing a new alternate jersey in 2010 (thanks Josh).

Hello powder blue. And like the other three jerseys, this one does not say “Tampa Bay” across the front. In fact, not only does it not say “Tampa Bay,” but the “Rays” logo is now much larger ginormous.
Also notice that there is no fish patch on the sleeve. Let’s face it, this ownership group wants nothing to do with the “Devil Rays” past, which leaves us wondering why they didn’t just scrap the “Devil Rays” altogether and start fresh with a new logo.

Just as hideous as I expected it to be. Nice job guys. We will look like a minor league team with those things on.
“Nice job guys. We will look like a minor league team with those things on.”
Yea the Royals. Yuk!
So no more dark unis?
it is my impression that this jersey will be used in addition to the dark blue alt. So in 2010 the Rays will have four jerseys to choose from.
The Heater piece says this jersey is for Sunday home games?
Exact opposite reaction from me – I love it. I spent months trying to track down one of those jersey t-shirts in this color with Kazmir’s name and number on the back. Apparently they assumed the powder blue was only for women, as the only player I could find was Longo (it worked out in the end that I never found the Kaz shirt, I guess).
Anyway, I like the color – it’s colorful without being that awful teal that was so in during the 90s. I don’t like that there’s no devil ray on the sleeve – without any trace of a fish, it really starts to look like we’re named after sunshine, which is just bad.

I think it will be Dark Blue Alternate at home and Light Blue Alternate away.
I like the light blue. It looks good. I wish the uniforms had a “TB” on the sleeve.
Yeah, this RAYS fan has always had a subliminal desire to be a tarheels fan. Baby powder blue sends such a ferocious message to the yankees and red sox that we have come to play!
Well, for those of us Rays fans here in North Carolina, it does work out pretty well.
We need a black jersey.
I like it. But BOOOOO on no fish patch, and even more BOOOOOO on having four jerseys without a single one reading “Tampa Bay.”
MLB official reason for pulling the new powder blue Rays uni jersey was to divert budgeted funds for the Bud Selig Statue. . ..
Terrible. The other alternate is fine but they wear it with white pants and ruin it. This one is worse.
Horrendous.
why cant we get a TB on the chest or something. Something a lil more creative than just changing the color again.
The dark blue alt was apparently too awesome for them to stick with… this one, meh.
Awesome…has FLORIDA written all over it…BEAUTIFUL!!!
