The ESPN cameras were there when Carl Crawford met with Derek Shelton for the first time this off-season. What is telling about this video is that Shelton seems a bit more proactive than most hitting coaches. He has taken the time this winter to fly around the country and meet with several of the Rays as opposed to waiting until spring training. And so far, the players seem to like him and his style.

Good Vids! It’s amazing the little things that go into place in order to be successful!

“Carl. Just be like Ben Franisco v. Rays pitching. Good.”

Don’t let Carl Shleton near Ben Zobrist. I want him working exclusively with the Nashville batting cage guy.

    Here’s Jim Hickeys offseason:
Wake up, brush teeth, sit on couch, drink a few brew dogs, eat, brush teeth sleep.

Why can’t we have a pitching coach like Shelton? I love the fact that he takes time out of his offseason to go see the players and help them out.
