Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com brings us Rocco Baldelli’s own words on his love for the game of baseball (thanks Travis). Let’s face it, Rocco will always be our first Devil Ray we ever truly loved. And even if he goes on to play for the Yankees, nothing will ever take away those fond memories. If you read one thing today, read this piece.

The decision to replace Baldelli with Kapler bothered me then and bothers me now. He's got more pop in his bat, better in the clubhouse, is a fan favorite and not a roid head. I'm not sure why they ever went that direction. it surely isn't money at this point. If we have a long-term injury, you go get Desmond J. anyway. As a pure bench player, Rocco over Kapler any day.

Couldn't the Rays sign him to a minor league deal and let him beat out the ambigious Gabe in spring training?

It was a good piece. Rocco and Tim McGraw can write a new hit single: "Play ball like you are dying."

He's a good dude who I hope can make it. Yankees signed another ex-D-Ray (Randy Winn) for their utility role, so I'm guessing the Bronx isn't an option for him anymore.
