Congrats to the Yankees. I can only think of about 28 teams that deserve it more.

I think it’s a $300 million dollar bill up against the wall in A-Rod’s case, also it’s quite the year for the big guys/traditional powers in pro-sports (Steelers, Stankees, Lakers, and i’m not going to bother looking up hockey)

I’d note that after being pretty great in post-season 2008, the Phillies bulpen without their PED enhanced lefty JC Romero (winner of Games 3 and 5) on the roster this time around posted a healthy 5.75 ERA in the WS this year and pretty much lost them the World Series.

This just goes to show you if you invest in your minor league system, you and you make shrewed trades, someone is going to just try to totally outspend you on the free agent market to make sure that you won’t win back to back league titles.
Thats why it’s stupid the Rays do it the right way and have a great year then the Yankees freak out and spend millions on free agents. What are the Rays supposed to do to compete with that?
The Yankees WON’T win year after year. I think the Rays have a formula set-up where they will be competitive for years to come. You look at any team in any major sport and just becuase you spend money, doesn’t guarantee you a championships(See the New York Rangers, Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys, LA Galaxy, and New Jersey Nets). The Rays will be fine.
