THE GOOD: James Shields. Shields flirted with the first no-hitter in franchise history, allowing just 3 walks in the first 7 innings, before giving up a single just in front of Gabe Gross to start the 8th.
THE BAD: Every. Single. Time. Every time this team starts to look like they are going to make a run at the playoffs they do something to destroy all hope. And we are not talking just losing a game here and there. We are talking about the way in which they lose these games. Not only did Shields lose his no-hit bid. But he wasn’t even in line for the win because the team couldn’t score. Then they lost the game when the defense imploded behind Shields. Navi goes for a double-play instead of one out. Drawn-in infield can’t stop a ground ball. And then they botch a run-down with a runner on third. Every. Single. Time…Runs, Forrest, Runs! The Rays have scored 3 or fewer for James Shields in 14 of his 23 starts. It is difficult when the top of the order can’t get on base. BJ Upton and Carl Crawford were a combined 1-8. One missed opportunity came in the 2nd inning. With 1 out, Pat Burrell was on first base. He was running with the pitch and Gabe Gross hit a double off the wall. Burrell was stopped at third. Gross did hit the ball hard, but Burrell was running with the pitch. How many times in the history of baseball do you think that has happened?
THE TELLING: The Rays are now just 16-15 against central division teams and are yet to play the Central-leading Detroit Tigers. Overall, they are 23-29 against AL teams not in the East.

could those jerseys be future alternate jerseys? it seems odd that they would start selling them to fans without announcing the new alternates though. I actually like both of them including the red one. just as long as they don’t wear them all the time.
I don’t think they can be official alternates bc those have to include official team colors. Maybe honoring something?
I like those jerseys, Red, White and Blue…Interesting…Do you think that it has anything to do with MacDill AFB? It would go better when MLB does the stars and stripes games.
Possible, but not really USA red and blue. And when teams where special jerseys honoring a group, like Padres do when they wear camo, I know those teams usually auction off the jerseys, but do they also sell them in team stores?
They used to sell the Padres camo jerseys, but I’m not sure if they do anymore… probably in San Diego.
Keep in mind, the Padres now wear those uniforms EVERY Sunday. They’re not just special occasion jerseys anymore.
Think its strange…Rays blow a game when they are still in the hunt…

Those jerseys have been at the Trop all season long, they’re just different colored jerseys for the people that get hats and stuff with the logo in non-team colors. Like the hats I’ve seen that are yellow and black with the TB logo
