Maddon’s “strong” suits:
Goes beyond realism to keep things “upbeat”.
Best cheerleader the players have… regardless of performance.
Undying loyality to under achievers…hoping for better days.
Willing to work for much less than other “successful” managers.
Maddon is the best guy for right now. I mean Maddon is the Tampa Bay area: some who has a lot depth but doesn’t look too imposing. He has done a good job, I think a lot of his moves are influenced by the Friedman. This team couldn’t w/ sweet Lou, nor Hal, and nor Larry. He has done what no one else could do, make this team believe.
He’s a good to great manager.
One caveat: quit resting healthy players. You can’t say that every game counts and then rest healthy guys the day before or after off-days.
Where’s the “pretty good, and might take the Rays all the way” choice???
