Bowling Green 5, Asheville 4. Nick Barnese, part of the Rays next wave of pitching prospects, made his 2009 debut, striking out 7 and walking none in 5 innings. He allowed 1 run in 5 innings…Tim Beckham was 1-3 with a double and a walk. He also committed his 16 error.

  1. Good to see Barnese finally back on the hill. From seeing him in rookie ball two years ago, I think he is going to be a good one.

    From looking at the boxscore, the thing that jumped out at me was 9 errors committed by the two defenses. Are they playing on a gravel infield?

    From what I have heard he hit the first 3 batters he faced. After that he settled down and ended with 0BBs (although 1 wild pitch) and those 7Ks. He also got 5 ground outs and 2 fly outs which is very good.
