This gameday open thread will have two parts and it is all user-generated…
- Up until first pitch, use the comments section to predict who you think will be the Sunburst Player of the Game. (be sure to use a valid email address while leaving the comment). The commenter that correctly predicts who we will name the Sunburst Player of the Game the most times prior to the all-star game, will win two tickets to a second-half game.
- Once the game starts the GBT open thread will be your thoughts during the game of what you think are The Good, The Bad and/or The Telling moments of the game.

SBPOG=Los!
I do not understand your crazy-speak.
does anybody else have a Babelfish handy?
Oh yeah. And I am going with Carl Crawford
I’m going to go with Carlos Pena again.
Is there an award for most losses?
Matt Garza
Sunburst = Willy Aybar
Gonna go with the Garza Complex today
Also, thoughts and prayers go out to the Adenhart family. Very tragic loss for the Angels organization.
Agreed. Adenhart was far too young. At least they caught the guy that fled the scene.
Sunburst POG: Evan Longoria I know its a definite win if ground into DPs are included
I’m going with Matt Joyce.
RIP Nick Adenhart
Best wish and RIP Nick Adenhart and his family. I heard the news at lunch today, really sad…
Carlos Pena will make Dice-K look foolish.
Aki is red hot and Dice-K walks a lot. I like Aki to be on base 4 times today, 2 walks and 2 doubles off the monster.
CC
Gabe Gross
Garza.
I’m going with Garza as the Sunburst player today. Taking a late lunch to see the first few innings.
I’ll go with Mr. Carl Crawford
Garz-dog
Garz-dog? weak. try something creative like Garza-palooza or something.
Aki Iwamura
Gotta go with Longoria
I like cc today. He is gonna be on the prowl
Thoughts and prayers…
Aybar, just to mix it up.
nice hit by Dirtbag
Garza looks like Kaz circa ’08 so far
that is the second time this series that an umpire has called a ball on a Rays pitcher for going to his mouth. Wondering if this is a directive from MLB to cut back on that this year and sure hope it doesnt end up like the year they called 56 kazillion million balks.
yeah, I only remember it happening once all last season now twice in 3 games…weird!
Aki
Whoo!!!
Joyce’s swing reminds me of somebody. but whoever it is, that swing was built to hit home runs. 15 years ago, he would be a 50 home run guy. Not sayin he would cheat, but just sayin’ if.
Prof,
The radio guys said that a pitcher must request and receive permission to go to their mouth while on the mound.
This is true, but I think in the past it was just assumed when it was cold and they were lax on the “asking” part. Seems like they are trying to get back to the rule book.
Dirtbag= no ceiling !!
RIGGANS GOES LONG… YOU WONDERFUL WONDERFUL BACKUP CATCHER!
Riggans and Garza just seem to be on the same page, 2 hitting the BoSox now and last year he caught Garza’s gem against Florida. Plus he has some really nice pop in his bat, I just wish he could throw out some base runners…
Freakin’ Bay…. Garza was too far ahead in that count for that crap
worried too much about his pitch count there. Afraid to waste one.
i didn’t even consider that perspective… if that were the case he needs to get that out of his mind
Gotta love the progressive thinking with the D-alignment
6 more outs, and they’ve already got the Sawx right where they want ‘em… looking up at the Rays, shielding their eyes, and dreaming of the days when they got to dance with the devil.
no, no, no–they will not come back, they will not come back…i hope.
I just almost threw up in my mouth a little that last inning.
I guess we get to see what Percy’s got today.
OK, now I DID throw up in my mouth
Terrified… Does Percy look as bad as the gamecast makes it appear?
hell, really wouldn’t of minded a broadcasting ‘blackout’ for the bottom of the 9th of this game
