The Rays Index Confidence Graph

Confidence graph No Comments »

The Rays Confidence Graph will appear every Wednesday and is a look at how much confidence Rays fans have in the Tampa Bay Rays. The graph is designed to give us a look at how our emotional bias as Rays fans fluctuates through time. The “confidence” in the team is an inexact measure of how fans feel about the team’s current strength as well as how much confidence fans have in the franchise for the next 3-4 years. Notes on this weeks agida-level can be found after the graph..

Notes on the RI Confidence Graph…

  • The most common response for “Confidence in 2009 Rays” was 9 with 36.6%.
  • The most common response for “Confidence in future of franchise” was 10 with 46.5%.

  • To say that Her Rays isn’t taking Rocco Baldelli’s move to the Red Sox well would be a gross understatement. In fact we are stating to think that in the same off-season that saw Andrew Friedman, Joe Maddon, Jason Bartlett and Matt Garza get married, the divorce of Roccessica may trump them all.  [Her Rays]
  • We forgot to mention during yesterday’s “Hangover” that Tom Verducci says the Rays “will try to convince Scott Kazmir to skip the [World Baseball Classic] tournament after he pitched through October last year.” [SI.com]
  • Last night Matt Silverman pushed the Rays plan for total regional domination to the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce. Silverman was the keynote speaker and his underlying theme appeared to be that the cities of St. Pete and Tampa would be better served to conduct business as a single community. [St. Pete Times]
  • In the same piece we learn that the Rays spring training season tickets have jumped from 300 to 3,000 at Charlotte Sports Park. [St. Pete Times]
  • The Rays have announced their promotional schedule for the 2009 home games, which begins with the raising of the AL Championship banner during their April 13 home opener. The Rays have dubbed the first two home series “Championship Week”. [Tampa Tribune]
  • Bugs and Cranks found a picture of the Dioner Navarro bobblehead that will be given away this season. Unfortunately, one characteristic of the bobblehead has an unfortunate resemblance to Alex Rodriguez, although we think it is more similar to Hannah Montana. [Bugs and Cranks]
  • Dan Wheeler spoke about his experience pitching in the 2006 World Baseball Classic and what the Rays pitchers can expect participating in this year’s tournament. [MLB]
  • CBS Sports has their fantasy preview for the Rays. It is funny that they name Matt Garza as the “potential breakout” and Scott Kazmir as the “potential bust”, because we would have gone with the exact opposite. [CBS Sports]
