Back in April we were messing around on another website and created the above mashup. The banner represents all the current and former professional franchises that play or played under the “Tampa Bay” banner [Ed. note: Almost all, we don’t acknowledge the Mutiny], and the championships won by those franchises (see original post for explanations of the various features).

Little did we know that six months later the Tampa Bay Rays would have a shot to add the 9th skull and crossbones to the banner built on the blood of the Red Sox and Yankees.

Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go…I wanna be sedated

didn't see the Kevin Costner song post until just now... and yet after some extensive wikipedia & blockbuster research, K. Costner's Field of Dreams has left me with an eerie feeling for Tampa's upcoming series...

    1. Kevin Costner's character's name in the Field of Dreams: RAY Kinsella
    2. Shoeless Joe Jackson is played by: RAY Liotta
    3. and Shoeless played for the: CHICAGO WHITE SOX
    4. "If you build it, they will come": perhaps our attendance/new stadium paradox?

so there's a couple of ways to look at it:
    1. The Ghost of Shoeless Joe will curse Chicago into throwing the playoff series like it's 1919 all over again, thrusting the Rays one step close to the World Series
    2. or The Karma of Kevin Costner will cause Tampa to bomb at the box-office/series in post-apocalyptic Waterworld/Postman stlye.

  2. Kevin Gengler says:

Beatings will continue until morale improves.
