  • Gary Glover was designated for assignment. The Rays have 10 days to try and trade him. If not, they can then try to send him to the minors, but he must clear waivers and Glover can choose to refuse the assignment and become a free agent. When you hear most of these names being linked to the Rays, the situation is most likely one in which the Rays are making their interest known…BUT, they are not going to get into a bidding war for any of these guys. The Rays’ hope is that other teams find different options or balk at the asking price and turn their attention elsewhere. The only way the Rays are going to find a price they like is if the other teams are no longer interested. At that point, the Rays will move in and make what they consider a fair deal.
